Step 1

Start by laying the two (2) 20'' by 20'' pieces of batting (for more structure to the pillow case) and two (2) 20'' by 20'' square from PE-454. Once you have all your hexies cut and press, lay them out as explained below, pin in place and start stitching around each hexie with 1/8 seam allowance.

Step 2

Once the step 1 is complete start by attaching the top and bottom strips of pure elements. Prep each strip by folding  1/4'' under each the side and bottom and press the fold.

Place all the strips as explain in the diagram below, pin in place and separate each strip by 1 1/2'' Later, stitch around each strip with 1/8 seam allowance. Repeat this step for the top and bottom rows

Step 3

Take the two (2) 20'' by 20'' squares from PE- 454  fold the edges under by 7 inches and iron press, so  they will not unravel over time.  After this, if desire, straight stitch the folded edge.

Step 4

Start by laying the front piece of the pillow with the right side (hexies) facing up and place the back panels on top with right side facing down. Pin all the pieces together and sew around with an 1/2 inch seam allowance.  Fold it over and you will have your Hexies Pillow Case with a secret overlapping opening on the back where you insert your pillow body!

Happy sewing!

Pat B.
