Free Project: Rhythmic Crossing

Hello lovelies! 

While browsing on the web and searching for a weekend project, I came across with this Rhythmic Crossing bed runner  from Etno Fabrics. I wanted to share this oldie but cutie runner because it is so easy and quick to make! I remember  having such a great time creating it.

I am even thinking of doing this runner with Dare Fabrics, I think mixing both color ways will be adorably displayed here! Oh well, I guess I found my weekend project! Yai, happiness overload!

Baby Etno

Hello lovelies!

How are you all doing? I can't believe July is almost over! I know I had been teasing you with some adorable little images of babies' clothes...well the wait is over. The complete post with incredible ideas for babies featuring Etno Fabrics and Art Gallery Fabrics soft knits is here! Lets begin with one of my favorites! I had so much fun creating these tiny shoes with Cubist Perception. They are just delightful and perfect for 3-month babies.  For the sole, I used Art Gallery Fabrics Caviar from Pure Elements☺

And can we please take a moment and swoon on this cutie! I'm being 100% honest with all of you, I adored making these little pants...well, I adored making everything, CUTENESS overload. For these cute pants, I used Rhythmic Totems Sienna which provides a very Ethnic allure.

A must have for every mom out there is a baby bib, and for this one I used Instinct Blooms Terra ☺ which gives a fun a sweet feel to this bib making babies out there beyond excited to have a everyday meal.

Mini Infinity Scarf Tutorial

Hello lovelies, 

I wanted to share with you a quick tutorial on a Mini Infinity Scarf featuring Shore Remains Algae voile from Etno Fabrics. Sometimes you just need an accessory to complete your outfit and this fast tutorial will help you with that ☺It will only take you 20 minutes to complete this project, leaving you with an adorable scarf. 

What you'll need:

►5/8 yards of Shore Remains Algae in Voile

►Sewing Machine
►Matching thread

Once you have your fabric folded (diagram 1), straight stitch all the way down the length of the scarf (right sides facing each other) using 1/2'' seam allowance. 

Turn the scarf right side out then match seams of both open edges and pin to match seams, try to sew all the way around while leaving a small opening were later you are going to blind hand stitch.  

And voila! your mini infinity scarf is complete! You can always alter the size of the scarf. In my case I use 20'' * WOF allowing me to turn it over twice, but you can make it bigger depending on the length that you want.

Etno Blog Tour│Final Recap

Hello lovelies! 

The #EtnoBlogTour ended Saturday and everyone's projects where just incredible! I am absolutely happy with the wonderful projects that these talented makers did for my first ever Blog Tour. Pyramid Impressions Table Runner Tutorial

Hello lovelies!

How is March treating you? I have prepared some interesting blog posts for all of you that I'm sure you will love! Like this one....surprise, surprise! I know it took me a little while to finish the instructions for the Pyramid Impressions table runner, featured in Etno's LookBook, but here it is for all of you to enjoy and begin sewing. 

Here are the fabrics you will need: 

Fabric A- ETN-40041 - 1/4 yd.
Fabric B- ETN-40044 - 1/8 yd.
Fabric C- ETN-50041 - 1/8 yd.
Fabric D- PE-418 - 1/6 yd.
Fabric E- PE-402 - 1/6 yd.
Fabric F- PE-433 - 1/8 yd.  

Binding -ETN-40042 - 126 “ long

(3 strips of WOF - 1/6 yd. )

Backing - ETN- 50044- 3/4 yd.

Cutting Requirements 

Four (4)2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strips from Fabric A
Four (4) 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” strips from Fabric A
Four (4) 2 1/2” x 8 1/2” strips from Fabric A
Four (2) 2 1/2” x 10 1/2” strips from Fabric A
One (1) 1 1/2” x 20 1/2” strips from Fabric A
Two (2)2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square from Fabric B

Sew following pieces together following Diagram 1.
Row 1 - 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2“ x 6 1/2” strip from Fabric F.
Row 2- 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strip from Fabric F.
Row 3- 2 1/2” x 8 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square from Fabric F.
Row 4- 2 1/2” x 8 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square from Fabric F.
Row 5- 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strip from Fabric F.
Row 6- 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 2 1/2“ x 6 1/2” strip from Fabric F.

Sew rows 1-6 from Diagram 1 together following Diagram 2. Place a 2 1/2” x 10 1/2“ strip from Fabric A between row 3 and 4. Repeat this same process for the other end of your table runner but replace Fabric F to Fabric D!

Sew 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square from Fabric D to 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” from Fabric C to 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square from Fabric D. (Diagram 3) Next sew piece you made in Diagram 3 to 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” strip from Fabric C. (Diagram 4)

 Following Diagram 5, sew two (2) 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” strips from Fabric D to each side of Diagram 4. Next sew the piece you made in Diagram 5 to a 2 1/2” x 10 1/2” strip from Fabric C. (Diagram 6) Repeat this process one more time you will need to of these pieces. Next repeat this process two more times but replace Fabric D with Fabric F and replace Fabric C with Fabric B! You will also need two of these pieces.

Sew both of the pieces you made in Diagram 6 to the same piece made with Fabric F and Fabric B. Follow Diagram 7 for placement.

Sew 1” x 20 1/2” strip from Fabric F to 1 1/2” x 20 1/2” strip from Fabric A to 1” x 20 1/2” strip from Fabric F.

Sew pieces you made in Diagram 7 to the piece you made in Diagram 8. Follow Diagram 9!

Sew the pieces you made in Diagram 2 to each side of the piece you made in Diagram 9. Follow Diagram 10 as a guide. 

Sew two (2) 1 1/2” x 40 1/2” strips from Fabric D to each long side of your table runner.

Next sew (2) 1 1/2” x 16 1/2” strips from Fabric D to each short side of your table runner!

Congrats lovelies, you finished your Pyramid Impressions table runner! Now it’s time to quilt and bind!

Table Runner Quilting Assembly

Place BACKING FABRIC on a large surface wrong side up. Stretch it with masking tape against that surface. Place batting on top of backing fabric. Place quilt top on top of the batting with right side facing up. Smooth away wrinkles using your hands. Pin all layers together and baste with basting thread, using long stitches. You can also use safety pins to join the layers.

Machine or hand quilt starting at the center and working towards the corners. Remember that quilting motifs are a matter of personal preference. Have fun choosing yours! After you finish, trim excess of any fabric batting, squaring the quilt to proceed to bind it.

Binding

Cut enough strips 1 ½” wide by the width of ETN-40042 to make a final strip of 126” long. Start sewing the binding strip in the middle of one of the sides of the quilt, placing the strip right side down and leaving an approximate 5” tail. Sew with ¼” seam allowance (using straight stitch), aligning the strip’s raw edge with the quilt top’s raw edge.

Stop stitching ¼” before the edge of the quilt (Diagram B1). Clip the threads. Remove the quilt from under the machine presser foot. Fold the strip in a motion of 45 degrees and upward, pressing with your fingers. (Diagram B2) Hold this fold with your finger; bring the strip down in line with the next edge, making a horizontal fold that aligns with the top edge of the quilt (Diagram B3). Start sewing at ½” of the border, stitching all the layers. Do the same in the four corners of the quilt.

Stop stitching before you reach the last 5 or 6 inches. Cut the threads and remove the quilt from under the machine presser foot. Lay the loose ends of the binding flat along the quilt edge, folding the ends back on themselves where they meet. Press them together to form a crease. Using this crease as the stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding with right sides together (you can help yourself by marking with a pencil if the crease is difficult to see).

Trim seam to ¼” and press open. Complete the sewing. Turn binding to back of the quilt, turn raw edge inside and stitch by hand using blind stitch.

Etno is now available!

Hello lovelies!

The wait is over! I can finally show you some wonderful images that the talented AGF team have put together for my newest collection, Etno. Like I had explained in my Etno Inspiration post, this time around, I created a collection that captures the ethnic expression trend through a medley of etchings. Regarding the design aspect of my new collection, this is a bit of a departure from my floral lines-although it has many beautiful flowers- I am in awe with the ethnic vibe right now. It is very versatile, perfect for quilting. However, lots of the prints are great for garments as well! 

I am also very excited for my newest quilt pattern that is soon going to be for sale! My Echoes Quilt pattern will be available at Fat Quarter Shop and Craftsy. I will let you all know its availability in my social media outlets, so make sure to follow me☺

What I love about Etno is its versatility, this collection works perfectly with apparel as well as home decor. For more inspirational projects, take a look at the fantastic LookBook that the brilliant AGF team created.

Etno Inspiration

Hello there fabric lovers! 

I had been blogging a lot about what inspires me and I want to conclude this -inspirational posts frenzy- with a quick blog post about what inspired me to create my latest collection, Etno. I decided to create a collection that captures the ethnic expression trend through a medley of etchings. Floral motifs are designed with bold brush strokes, and energized geometrics combine with artistic patterning. Etno is playfully crafted, and outlined with a sophisticated color palette of tan hues, aquamarine, spiced yellow and ambrosia. Textures and intricate designs are what Etno is all about and its clearly represented in this inspiration board which has a bit of Etno inspirational images. 

When I am designing a new collection, I require visual inspiration. I usually save images on my computer archives which I will constantly visit. But sometimes a computer archive is not enough so I create an actual mood board filled with textures, objects, colors and images that stimulate my senses. Take a closer look at a piece of Etno's mood board, crowded with pictures, colorful textures and future project ideas. I like it so much that I won't take it down until my next collection☺

I love surfing the web and I am constantly stumbling upon great images that inspired me greatly, but sometimes the good-old-mood-board is always a great source of inspiration. With  this ladies I conclude my inspirational frenzy! Many things inspire me daily and I always wanted to share it with all of you. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.☺☺

ETNO Flying Geese Table Runner

Hi! How was your Christmas Holiday super looong weekend? I hope you have had lots of happy family gatherings with your loved ones. Christmas is always so full of a magical spirit, don't you think? Our celebration was so good! We were 6 at the table and my mother was the queen! My husband, son, my sister and me felt this holiday very special for having her, at her 87 years of age, strong and so happy! 

I was working lots these days spent at home... I didn't go to work last Friday, so this holiday felt almost as a vacation! Since I had more time to sew, my priority was to finish the runner made with the new flying geese method I shared with you on a previous post here. 

My new ETNO collection ships to stores late January and I think this table runner can be the first sample for you to see my fabrics in action!

I had the top ready sewn days ago, so the only thing was to decide how to quilt it. The order of the day at my sewing room was to relax and have fun with straight line quilting! 

First I thought about straight vertical quilting, but looking at the triangles I had the impulse to do straight lines in angle that will replicate the geese. I love how it came out! Working with my Bernina walking foot and the marking it has, I went for 1/2" seams.

There was a moment that I was so excited to see how it was looking that I did a small section in the center of the runner reducing the spacing to 1/4" apart that I'm showing on the pic below. 

Oh... the magic of quilting... These are the moments that I enjoy the most!!

Because I'm only working with strike offs (the first sample the mill sends me to correct the final production) I'm using all the scraps left from the top cutting; so I decided to put them to good use on the back, combining them with stripes of the AGF "Square Elements" in Lemon and my beloved "Wanderlust" in Luna from the INDIE collection I've designed some time ago. Scrappy scrappy!

On the binding, I've combined a creamy grey with small sections of teal from the AGF "Pure Elements" line of solids. I love the pop and modern effect of these kind of combinations!

Hope you liked it! I'm crazy in love with this runner, and can't wait until my new ETNO line gets shipped to stores late January so you can put your hands on it! What's going to be the order of the day at your sewing room?

Strike Offs from Etno are finally here!

Hello Lovelies, 

I am super, super happy! I want to formally welcome my Etno strike offs :) Really? Pinch me!! It seemed ages since I wasn't having the excitement of introducing a fabric collection! Believe it or not, and after having designed more than 30 lines for AGF, I still feel these butterflies in my stomach when I'm about to share with you my new work! 

I am so thrilled to finally see my designs come to life --even if they only are little pieces for now... This last step marks the long wait until January 2015, when Etno finally is going to hit stores. 

Talking design, this is a bit of a departure from my floral lines --even though it has many beautiful flowers!! You may find it a bit different from my former collections; I think that as a designer, I need to evolve and bring new designs and color stories that make me fall in love when seeing new trends.

Even though they are just a sample of what’s to come, I am completely satisfied with the results. They colors are so vivid, just how I imagined it, and I didn't even start on the knits! Just stunning.

I'm in love with the ethnic vibe right now. It's very versatile, perfect for quilting but many of the prints are great for garments too! 

The 2 new color stories I've worked with are to die for! I can't wait to start sewing with these beauties!
