Crafty Valentine's Day Cards

Hello adorable makers!

Valentine's Say is just around the corner and I want to share something pretty fun for all of you. I created three Valentine's Day printable cars with unique saying for that special someone. I created these printable cards using Rapture, Summerlove and Heartland fabrics, and well those collections gives these cards that little extra pink perfect for Valentine's day.

I know, I will be using some of these cuties myself for Tuesday. I love gifting chocolates and little somethings, not only to my husband, but also to my closest friends and relatives. Just giving them something, as small as it is, it makes me feel really good. And it's even better if it's something made entirely by me. I think that DIY gifts are the best because the come out straight from the heart.

Aren't these cute? Get that special someone or just anyone you truly care about a nice little DIY gift along with one of these fun printable cards.

Enjoy lovelies, I have another surprise later on this week.

Confection Kitchen Set / Free Project

Hi lovelies! Lately I've been busy working on designing and making projects with my most recent lines Rapture and Essentials (available at the end of March). I do have projects in store with Essentials, but I'll share those once you can get your hands on the fabrics. Today I made this Free Project post for you using Rapture.

Personally I love cooking and baking, although I must admit that recently I haven't been as active in the kitchen as I used to. Another little confession is that I created this initially for myself, as an incentive to start baking again all the dessert recipes passed down to me by my mother. Torta Bomba... yumm!

I thought it could make a great tutorial so here it is :)

There are two pieces in this set. A pot holder and a dish towel.

Materials:
POT HOLDER

  1.       (2) 8 ½”  Square of  Saccharine Lemon (Rapture)
  2.       (1) 4 ½” x 6 ½” Rectangle of  Hypnotic Paramour (Rapture)
  3.       (1) 4 ½ "x 3 ½" Rectangle of   Delicate Femme Apricot (Rapture)
  4.       (1) 4 ½” x 3 ½” Rectangle of  Euphloria Viridian (Rapture)
  5.       (1) 8” x 6 ½”  Rectangle of  Saccharine Lemon (Rapture)
  6.       (1) 8 ½” x 1 ½” Strip of  Bonbons Cerise (Rapture)
  7.       (1) 4 ½” x 2” Strip of  Bonbons Cerise (Rapture)
  8.       (1) 16” x 2 ¼” Strip of  Bonbons Cerise (Rapture)
  9.       (1) 8 ½”  Square of  Batting
  10.       (1) 8” x 6 ½”  Rectangle of  Batting
  11.       (1) 1 ½” x WOF  Strip of  Saccharine Lemon (Rapture)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Take pieces 1 and place piece 9 in between them. Make sure that the right sides of pieces 1 are facing out. Measure 1" diagonally from one corner to start quilting. Quilt 45° lines 1" parallel to each other. Repeat the same process perpendicular to these lines.

Take piece 3 and 4 sew them together length wise. Take piece 2 and attach it on the left side of pieces 3 and 4. This will be the front part of the pot holder's pocket. For the back of the pocket we are using piece 5. Place piece 10 in between the front and back of the pocket and quilt it making small rectangles every ½” inside of each rectangle.

Make a ruffle with piece 8 by folding it in half and basting the open side. You can do this by hand or by setting the straight stitch of your machine at its longest. Pull the thread in order to gather the fabric until it measures the same as the pocket piece. Sew the ruffle on top of the pocket piece and bind it using piece 6.

Take piece 7 and fold it in half with the right side of the fabric facing in. Sew it length wise and turn it inside out.

Place the pocket piece on top of piece 1 aligning them at the bottom and bind them using piece 11. Leave an opening on the right top corner of the binding to insert piece 7 to create a hook. Voilà!

And now for the dish towel:

MATERIALS

  1.  (1) 17” x 21” Rectangle of  White Linen (Pure Elements collection)
  2.  (1) 21” x 27 ½” Rectangle of Saccharine Lemon (Rapture collection)
  3.  (2) 1 ½” x 21” Strip of Hypnotic Paramour Red  (Rapture collection)
  4.  (1) 4 ¾” x 21” Rectangle of Delicate Femme Apricot (Rapture collection)
  5.  (1) 4” x 21” Rectangle of Euphloria Viridian (Rapture collection)
  6.  (1) 2 ½” x WOF Strip of Bonbons Cerise (Rapture collection)
  7.  (3) 1 ½” strips of Saccharine Lemon (Rapture collection)
  8.  (1) Rectangle of Batting

INSTRUCTIONS

This time we will start by making the ruffle. Grab piece 6 and follow the same instructions as the pot holder to create the ruffled strip. Sew the ruffle on top of piece 4. Align them at the top and sew 1/8" from the edge.

Start constructing the front side of the towel (follow the diagram). Attach piece 1 to one piece 3, then attach piece 4 (with the ruffle on it) to the previous sewn pieces. Take the other piece 3 that was left and  add it to the sewn pieces. Last but not least add piece 5 to the bottom of the sewn pieces.

Place the batting in between the front side of the towel and piece 2 align the three pieces. Now it's time to quilt. For the top part I made a diagonal grid pattern to match the one on the pot holder. Each line is 1 ¾” apart from the previous one. For the bottom parts that are not Hypnotic Paramour Red I did echo quilting, one rectangle within another 1/2" apart. As decorative stitches and to create texture I added (by hand) diagonal stitches with black embroidery thread on top of the Hypnotic Paramour Red.

To finish use piece 7 as the binding for your dish towel.

And we are done! I truly hope this gets you inspired both to sew and to bake. I will try to share more pics of what I bake, but bear with me, I'm also cooking more things for you lol.

Happy sewing,

From me with eLove! March 2014

Happy March lovelies! This month I'm early with my monthly desktop background. March marks what are usually the first signs of Spring and all of its blooming and rebirth. It also shows the first rays of sun that will burst completely during my favorite time of the year: Summer.

This month the background is inspired by Rapture. Buds and petals from Wild Beauty Saffron really stand out against the dark blue background. You have the option to use it with our without the calendar. I hope you like it!

Dreamscape Pillow Free Pattern

Hi lovelies! As some of you know I have been working on many things at once (that's just the norm, lol), and I have posted sneak peeks through my social media profiles. Today I am finally posting the finished free PDF pattern for my Dreamscape Pillow that I created using both my Carnaby St. and Rapture collections. I also added White Linen and Tender Green from the Pure Elements collection by AGF.

I created hexagons by sewing together six 60° triangles in different fabrics, each bordered on one side with strip-pieced diagonal cuts of 1/2" strips in the Pure colors. I then added more triangles in between. I like to cut, sew, and arrange things spontaneously to see what starts to develop. This is my favorite way to design my projects and quilt patterns. I hope you like what I created this time!

How beautiful is the heart created by the wooden panels? I love it!

Happy sewing,

From me with eLove, Happy 2014!

Happy January lovelies! Today is the first Monday of 2014 and I have new digital backgrounds for you :)

I hope these backgrounds will be daily reminders to help inspire you in whatever you are making this year; starting with this month.

The first background choice was inspired by my collection Bazaar Style. The background stays true to the exotic florals and Moroccan influence of the collection. You have the option to use it with our without the calendar.

The second background was inspired by the Butterfly Bliss print from my latest collection Rapture. Here the print was transformed to have more of a winter feel but still highlighting the joy that comes when looking at butterflies and flowers. I hope you like it!

Thank you, 2013!

Today is my birthday, and I decided that it was the perfect day to say: THANK YOU. This year has been amazing, and nothing would be possible without the support of the people around me. Designing fabrics is my passion and quilting warms my heart. This year brought so many projects that I wanted to share some of them with you. Some of these projects were quilts that came as free projects released with the two collections I launched: Carnaby St. and Rapture.

Some were featured in magazines:

Of course one of the highlights for me was to be on the cover of Generation Q next to my husband Walter, and that gorgeous quilt made with Summerlove (pun untended lol).

And it goes without saying that I was the happiest to see all the projects made by all of you, my lovelies, that were shared on Instragram, Facebook, Flickr, Pinterest, and all of the platforms that connect us. THANK YOU!

May the new year bring you bliss, health, and lots of quilting!

Happy sewing,

Rapture is here!

Hello lovelies!

First I want to take the time to thank you for all your amazing comments and all the love you show for me and for my work. I put great effort in creating fabric collections that will bring joy to all your projects. And it makes me truly happy to see you welcome them into your lives. This week I am also grateful because since I showed my newest collection at Quilt Market (recap here) with butterflies in my stomach. Yet, I have received such great feedback! So today I'm thrilled to announce that the  RAPTURE collection is now available!

The fabrics are inspired by one of my favorite designers, KENZO, and the watercolor style that has currently become the latest trend. The color palette has soft pastels, but yet it's bright and happy too! I'm so happy right now in my professional and personal life, so I wanted Rapture to be a reflection of this joyous time!

I designed this collection with a woman in mind. She is fearless and sophisticated. She dares to wear bold prints with bright hues of lemon, red, and blue. She loves to be raptured by the beauty in everything she sees and she wears her heart on her sleeve.

Step into her world with my new Rapture Lookbook:

Her happy and serene world is surrounded by bright yet harmonious colors. She loves to dream in watercolor and she shares her vision through her paint brush.

Rapture comes in two sophisticated color ways: Citric Happiness & Subtle Joy.

Citric Happiness, as the name describes, is full of citric yellows and happy corals with hints of teal, berry, and tender green.

Subtle Joy focuses on the soft sides of blue and peach, with hints of cream and mint. Both color ways embrace traces of crystal pink and black.

One of my favorite prints in this collection is Wild Beauty (in both color ways). It embodies the mood of this collection perfectly with its painted flowers, watercolor brush traces, with both bright and subtle tones and the boldness of a black. I love its versatility being great to work in all quilts, fashion, and home decor.

I haven't stopped sewing with Rapture. A lot of the projects will be FREE patterns available to you in the coming months! You can start making my FREE quilt pattern, Blissful quilt, now! You'll love making this quilt. It is easy to make and will sure bring bliss to your home (or for a loved one since the holidays are right around the corner).

Rapture is perfect for combining with all the Elements that AGF has to offer! If you want to throw in some solids to the mix, here is a list of Pure Elements that go great with Rapture:

PE-448 Canary, PE-435 Banana Cream, PE-444 Peach Sherbet, PE-426 Apricot Crepe. PE-450 Grapefruit, PE-438 Coral Reef, PE-405 Cherry Lipgloss, PE-446 Honeydew, PE-408 White Linen, PE-412 Tender Green, PE-424 Mirage Blue, PE-452 Spruce, PE-431 Mystic Grey, PE-413 Caviar.

And here is a list of Squared Elements that are just waiting to be combined with Rapture:

CST-3108 King's Road Turquoise, SE-613 Teal, SE-604 Seafoam, SE-609 Citrine, CST-3201 King's Road Lemon, CST-3101 King's Road Fuchsia, SE-600 Watermelon, SE-601 Rosewater, SE-614 Almondette, SE-607 Noir.

And what's even better is that I have matching threads to go along with Rapture! I've had the pleasure of working with Aurifil and coming out with my own thread collection!

The Eye Candy  Box is the perfect match when working with the soft tones of Subtle Joy!

The Quilting Heart Box is great to combine with the bright hues of the Citric Happiness palette. Great for quilting (of course) and sewing. So start filling your canvases with joyful projects made with Rapture!

I really hope you like my new line as much as I do, and that all these images inspire you to get stitching and create pieces you treasure and are grateful for. Stay tuned for more inspirational posts featuring Rapture!

Love,
