Liberty of London

You will say: "Pat, you just came back from Paris... why are you blogging about London?" It's so true!! Everything still is very messy on this blog, so I have to catch up, lol. So my problem now is that I want to post all I have at the same time!

After coming back from London in July, I had so much work ahead of me in preparation for Houston Quilt Market (new collection, design for the booth, plus a few shootings and making several new patterns) On top of that I didn't decide if I was going to make my own new blog... so with all these things going on I said maybe is not the right time to post on my old blog.

But sometimes the excitement is stronger that you might think... do you know that feeling? :) I had these beautiful pictures from London waiting and telling me: "when are you going to show us?" A few weeks ago I posted my first post from that visit, but I had many more pics -and specially a group that had me drooling since I took them! LIBERTY of LONDON!

I don't know where to start explaining the feelings that I had once I stepped into the store... I've heard many times of this company, but the only things I knew from them were fabrics. I didn't know that Liberty is an entire universe with many floors of pure beauty! From clothing to greeting cards, sewing notions to cosmetics, everything you see is made for the love of design. It is the Liberty look that we all love!

I said to Walter: "I may want to live here for the rest of my life"!! There is SO much inspiration here that I think you may agree with me :)

They have an entire floor dedicated to cards, cards and more cards!

Believe me when I tell you I wanted to buy... EVERYTHING!

The buttons were so many that you didn't know where to start looking...

A world of wallpapers in the most stunning designs

Over the department of sewing notions, I kept saying myself "1 of each, please!"
I asked one of the salespeople there if I could take pictures, since I was a textile designer from US and wanted to share all this yumminess with the sewists here. She gladly say yes!

Isn't this the cutest packaging for buttons?

Lovely quilt, fabric bundles and so many books that are to die for!

Hexies galore!

Look at these tiny beading bottles... don't you want to buy them all? I do!

Everything in this store is devoted to floral design

The most beautiful displays!

The cosmetics department is also an entire floor and you can smell all fragrances you can think of...

After a few hours lost in that paradise I knew I have to leave the store before I could break the limit on my credit card, lol... but I would never forget the experience!

It was so very inspiring for me as a sewist and as a designer. I came back full of ideas for my next collections! What's not to love about Liberty of London, don't you think?

  13. Earlier in the Fall a friend was going to London with her sister, SO I asked if she would please stop in Liberty and maybe get me a few pieces of fabric! She doesn't know sewing from mining, but gladly agreed and I can now fully appreciate her reaction: WOW!!!!!! I love my little bundle of prints, but would have loved to have this experience firsthand - thanks so much for sharing these photos and hopefully I'll get there, someday!
