Another awesome little project for all of you!

So many of you had been asking me about the Khokhloma Coin Purse when I was in market, well the only day I attended thanks to that horrible cold, and of course I said I was going to make a tutorial for it. 

This coin purse is so folksy inspired that I had to have it on the lookbook as well. Of course, I had to use my BERNINA 790 machine because its satin stitches are to die for. A Nod to Furoshiki, Laundry Bag

Hello everyone!
It's time for another We All Sew tutorial! This one is one of my favorites so far. I was so in-love with this bag when I saw it at the AGF Denim Studio booth back in International Quilt Market, that I decided to do one for myself. And what a great way to mix Dare Fabrics ,  Pure Elements  and AGF Denim Studio while adding BERNINA'S unique decorative stitches. 

This bag it's so versatile! You don't have to use it as a laundry bag only, you can also have it as decorative puff in your home (filled them with poly-fill and you are set) I want to create two more and have them as puff in my home studio. Also, isn't this a perfect holiday gift? It's quick to make! So run to your nearest quilt store, get all the materials and start sewing, you still have three days for Christmas!

Presser Foot of The Day

Hello fabric lovers!

As you all know, I am a BERNINA ambassador, and I simply adore the machine. Sewing with a BERNINA is like heaven. Everything in this machine is top of the line and its perfect for quilters and everyday sewers. BERNINA sewing machine has many qualities which among them is its countless presser feet. Each of them having a specific and unique roll. Today's presser foot is Patchwork Foot #37.

Because it is designed for straight stitching, foot #37 is perfect for sewing 1/4'' or 1/8'' (3 or 6 mm) seam allowances. Also, foot #37 has three evenly spaced markings, 1/4'' apart, on its side which makes the square insertion of piecing easier. Patchwork foot #37 is your partner in crime when it comes to patchwork and precision stitching techniques.

Floral Geometry Table Topper on We All Sew

Hello lovelies!

Hexies are so in vogue these days! Have you ever thought to appliqué them instead of sewing them together? I wanted to share this project I created using Rapture for Bernina's blog: We All Sew on how to sew hexies by machine. the BERNINA Creative Consultant

On the blog today I'd like to share with you my Tuesday BERNINA tips that I regularly post on my Instagram. Every week I give sewing tips with the amazing BERNINA 780, so be sure to check them out if you haven't already! You can catch up with my BERNINA tips on my Pinterest Sewing & Quilting Basics board.

So, I'd like to talk about the BERNINA Creative Consultant. This feature is truly amazing! It is so amazing, that I actually decided to make it into a blog post, instead of my usual Instagram tip. Let's take a look at how great this feature is!

Have you ever started to work with a new kind of fabric and you had to go through the daunting task of testing your needles and tension just to get the desired stitch? What a time waster!

The Creative Consultant gives you all of the information you need when working with specific materials!

All you have to do is click on the super cute mannequin icon to reach the Creative Consultant menu.

You'll see a variety of fabric options at your fingertips. Everything from different weights of woven and knits to jeans and fur. Even leather and lace!

All you have to do is select the fabric you are working with. Let's say we're working on a pair of denim jeans. So you would click the jean pocket icon.

The next screen shows you different sewing selections. You can pick seams, buttonholes, decorative stitching and more! When you make your selection the needle, presser foot and thread tension that is needed is displayed. Click the green check mark and the BERNINA is ready to sew!

It's as simple as that. This is truly why I love this machine! It is so capable of handling any task, that you simply fall in love with it.

Carnaby Crossing Placemats

Happy 1st day of summer everyone!

I hope you are planning to have a wonderful time vacationing or spending time with the family, making all sorts of crafts and projects together! I've been up to a few projects of my own, working with my beloved BERNINA 780 and the tons of new ideas I've had since coming home from Market.

With summer already here, I thought, wouldn't it be nice to spruce up the kitchen and dining room area for some fun, summer entertaining! I know that every now and then, my family decides to come over and visit sunny Florida with all its tropical beaches and delicious piña coladas!

So, to add a little more color to our dining table, I put a different twist on the usual placemats using selvedges from my very own fabric collections.

This is truly a fun way to add a little touch of color and design to regular placemats. Its fresh, modern... And its even fast and easy to do!

For the placemats, I used Art Gallery's Pure Elements solids and Go-Go London Lustrous from my Carnaby Street collection for the binding. For the selvedges, I used a mixture of my favorite color registration marks from various prints and placed them on top of each other, playing with different angles and directions.

What I truly love about the BERNINA 780 is that it lets me sew at ease. The presser foot automatically lowers at the start of a seam and lifts again at the end. It even cuts the thread for me! So sewing these little strips was as easy as one, two, three...

All you need is two rectangular pieces of your favorite solids and batting in the same size to make the main part of the placemat. Placing the batting in between the solids, grab strips of your favorite selvedges and top-stitch them to the three layers, playing with the placement of the selvedges and exploring multiple directions. Trim and finish off with your favorite binding method in a contrasting fabric.

Be My Valentine Kitchen Towels - a Bernina project

Hi everyone! Finally the time has come to share my first BERNINA project: Be My Valentine Kitchen Towels!

To work for a sewing machine company is a dream come true for me! Not to mention that I'm working with one machine like no other: the new BERNINA 780. Should it be to obvious to put this into perspective and tell you that is like driving a Ferrari? Well, kind of this... lol!

It is so fun to do something that you love like sewing and then make it double fun when sewing in a machine that has so many features. I want to tell you everything about it and don't know where to start!

What's not to love about her... but one of the first things that caught my eye is the new dual feed system that will make us quilter our job much easier (more of that on another post). The other is the zillions of decorative stiches that are loaded inside. I was always a big fan of decorative stitches, because you can create textured fabric in a 1-2-3! You can maximize this having a 9 millimeter stitch width and the freedom of regulating the length. It's like you having many stitch choices coming from the original :) How cool is that!

For my first project, having Valentine’s Day around the corner, I decided to create a cute and fun project for your home for this sweet day that celebrates love and happiness. This duo kitchen towel project is perfect to enjoy a romantic dinner with your husband, giving them to your loving mother or a great friend as a gift! Working with appliqué let me explore different decorative stitches that the 780 had to offer.

This baby glides over the fabric when stitching dense and intricate stitches. It's like spreading butter over warm bread! Why this machine is so stable when it's sewing time? The all-metal, one-piece presser feet makes all the difference for me... Those who own a BERNINA know what I'm talking about. It was pure sewing pleasure :-)

A Bernina Dream Come True

Hi loves!

So... Are you ready? Today is the day! I don't know how to start because I'm overwhelmed with emotions and even more sharing this with you. BERNINA has chosen me to be an Ambassador for her new 7 Series Sewing Machines! Oh my gosh and I am jumping up to the ceiling with excitement!! Somebody come and pinch my arm please...

For those of us that love to sew miles of fabric and thread (I call it "create our hearts out"), owning a sewing machine is a dream that in some cases may come new or used, with many specialty stitches or a few, with embroidery unit or without, but in all cases is our beloved baby that make possible our creative dreams to materialize.

After all these years sewing, I would like to share with you my story. I am the happy owner of some sewing and embroidery machines. From Kenmore, to Singer, to Brother. And then, I bought a BERNINA Artista 730 and I have to ask you to stop counting because I found my true love. To tell you my first impression after sewing with her for the first time, is that I have never stitched so confidently and knowing that the result will be perfect like in this machine! You can guess I was totally hooked and I wanted to tell the entire world about this!

Imagine what I felt when the CEO from BERNINA, Paul Ashworth, visited my booth at Houston Quilt Market last October and invited me to be part of a great group of sewing artists that will share all the awesome features of the new 780! Whoo-hoo! Deep inside my heart since I became a fabric designer, I was waiting on this dream for a long time. Was this coincidence or providence? What I know is that this means I can now share my love with you!

I went to pick up the machine and Oh boy... I do look happy!!

The 780 was shipped to my local dealer, Once Upon a Quilt in Dania Beach. I would never be thankful enough to the owner Lisa, who helped me achieve this dream so dear for me! If you ever visit Miami, I would love you not to miss this lovely quilt shop. Her fabric selection is to die for and the sewing and quilting classes are a must for beginners as for experienced stitchers alike!

The last couple of weeks I got busy exploring the new features and I can tell you that they're so many, but the good news is that I will have an entire year to show them to you!

You know how passionate I am when I speak fabrics and sewing. I LOVE my job and honestly, my aim is to create and inspire you with everything I do. Here comes something very important I want to let you know: BERNINA is not paying me one dime for my contract. This is because pure and simple I love these machines and I want to inspire a love of them in you! Wait until you see them in action :-)
