Pinetree Placemats

Hello everyone!

I am so excited!! Christmas is just around the corner and that means lots of family time and of course lots of decorating. I want to share with all of you during our lovely count down for Christmas, some adorable and easy projects! Like the Pinetree Placemats with Heartland fabrics and the good thing is that you can use these placemats for after the holidays! How cool?Alright ladies and gents, the instructions are below so have fun creating this beauty!

Fabric Quantities
1/2 yard of HRT-85301Fabric A
Fat Eight of HRT-85303 Fabric B
Fat Eight of HRT-85308 Fabric C
1/4 yard of batting

Cutting Instructions
Cut 2 (two) 10'' by 16'' of Fabric A
Cut 1 (one) 10'' by 16'' of batting

Step 1
Place one of the 10'' by 16'' piece of Fabric A, then the 10'' by 16'' of batting, and lastly the last piece of Fabric B. If desire, with an erasable pen draw diagonal guide lines for quilting 1/2'' apart.

 
Step 2
We are going to create the tree fuzzy cut trees from Fabric B. Cut three pieces, as shown below and use steam a seam to glue it to Fabric A

Step 3
Now that we have the three fussy cut trees ready, we have to iron press on the top of the 10'' by 16'' piece of Fabric A. In this project two fussy cut pieces are place at the bottom right side of the piece, and one on the top left corner. Once this is complete, we are ready to top stitch the lovely trees.

 Add the binding using Fabric C and you are done!

This project is so cute and super fast and fun to create! And you will have a lovely Christmas dinner table set. More projects are coming your way lovelies so make sure to check my social media outlets for more info!

Baby it's Cold Outside....Not Exactly :)

Hello lovelies! 

Last night I was browsing through Pinterest and I found the cutest and smartest DIY projects for Christmas and I had to share them with you! This time of the year the stores are crowed with shopping goers in need of Christmas gifts or decorations. For me the easiest way is to DIY it! And you know what......it feels better when you do it, don't you think?

The ideas I found are so stylish and cute! Like these Twine Spheres so easy to make and I love it. It is so elegant and yet a classic for your decor.

I have two adorable dogs that are my life and I know there are lots of dogs and animal lovers out there, so this one is for you. I found and adorable Salt Dough Puppy Paw Ornament that I am dying over it! It is so cute and perfect for that special four legged angel at home.

Behold, The Star is Shining!

Hello lovelies,

How are you all doing? I can't believe Christmas is just a couple of days away and I am still thinking how to decorate my home for the holidays. There are so many adorable Christmas adornments everywhere, but I wanted to make something more special and different this year. 
So I made this massive, 20'' by 20'' star quilt block that I can hang anywhere in my house for decore, it is so easy and fast to make, so check the easy tutorial below. I used Artisan Fabrics for this quilt block because I think it fits the holidays hues perfectly.

Materials 

Fat Quarter of PE-436 (Fabric A)

Fat Eight of ART-43106 (Fabric B)

Fat Eight of ART- 53109 (Fabric C)

Fat Quarter of ART-43107

1/4 of ART-43103 for Binding 

Cutting Instructions 

From PE-436

Cut eight (8) 5'' by 5'' squares and half square cut 4. So you will end up with four (4) 5'' b y 5'' and four (4) half square triangles

From ART-43106

Cut four (4) 5'' by 5'' squares and half square cut all 4. Leaving you with a grand total of eight (8) half square triangles. 

From ART-53106

Cut four (4) 5'' by 5'' squares and half square cut all 4. Leaving you with a grand total of eight (8) half square triangles. 

Step 1

Using 1/4'' seam allowance to everything.

Before attaching the first row of our quilt top:

•Take one (1) half square triangle of fabric A and B and sew it together.

• Do the same thing with the half square triangle of fabric C. Take one (1) half square triangle of fabric C and A and sew it together.

Once you have those two pieces all sew together (they will be a 5'' by 5'' squares) Lets take two (2) 5'' by 5'' squares of fabric A and lay then as shown below and attach them together. 

To complete the second row, lets grab:

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric A, one (1) half square triangle of fabric C and sew it together (First square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric C, one (1) half square triangle of fabric B and sew it together (Second square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric C, one (1) half square triangle of fabric B and sew it together (Third square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric B, one (1) half square triangle of fabric A and sew it together (Last square on the diagram below)

Once these steps are completed, sew all the pieces together as explained below. 

To complete the third row, lets grab:

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric A, one (1) half square triangle of fabric B and sew it together (First square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric B, one (1) half square triangle of fabric C and sew it together (Second square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric C, one (1) half square triangle of fabric B and sew it together (Third square on the diagram below)

•One (1) half square triangle of fabric C, one (1) half square triangle of fabric A and sew it together (Last square on the diagram below)

Once these steps are completed, sew all the pieces together as explained below. 

To complete the fourth row, lets grab:

•Take one (1) half square triangle of fabric A and C and sew it together.

• Do the same thing with the half square triangle of fabric C. Take one (1) half square triangle of fabric B and A and sew it together.

Once you have those two pieces all sew together (they will be a 5'' by 5'' squares) Lets take two (2) 5'' by 5'' squares of fabric A and lay then as shown below and attach them together. 

Now that all the rows are sewn together it is time to form the quilt block. Start by laying your pieces as explain below and attach each row.

Once you finish the step before you will end up with a piece looking like this

Quilt Assembly 

• Place BACKING FABRIC on a large surface wrong side up. Stretch it with masking tape against that surface.

• Place BATTING on top of backing fabric.

• Place TOP on top of the batting with right side facing up. Smooth away wrinkles using your hands.

• Pin all layers together and baste with basting thread, using long stitches. You can also use safety pins to join the layers. 

• Machine or hand quilt starting at the center and work-ing towards the corners. Remember that quilting motifs are a matter of personal preference. Have fun choosing yours!

• After you finished, trim excess of any fabric or batting, squaring the quilt to proceed to bind it. 

Binding

• Cut enough strips 1½" wide by the width of the fabric I to make a final strip 280" long. Start sewing the binding strip in the middle of one of the sides of the quilt, placing the strip right side down and leaving an approximated 5" tail. Sew with ¼" seam allowance (using straight stitch), aligning the strip’s raw edge with the quilt top’s raw edge. 

• Stop stitching ¼" before the edge of the quilt (DIAGRAM B1). Clip the threads. Remove the quilt from under the machine presser foot. Fold the strip in a motion of 45° and upward, pressing with your fingers (DIAGRAM B2). Hold this fold with your finger, bring the strip down in line with the next edge, making a horizontal fold that aligns with the top edge of the quilt (DIAGRAM B3). Start sewing at ¼" of the border, stitching all the layers. Do the same in the four corners of the quilt.

• Stop stitching before you reach the last 5 or 6 inches. Cut the threads and remove the quilt from under the machine presser foot. Lay the loose ends of the binding flat along the quilt edge, folding the ends back on themselves where they meet. Press them together to form a crease. Using this crease as the stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding with right sides together (you can help yourself marking with a pencil if the crease is difficult to see). 

• Trim seam to ¼" and press open. Complete the sewing. Turn binding to back of the quilt, turn raw edge inside and stitch by hand using blind stitch.

And voila, your star quilt block is ready!  I was really interested in doing some sort of quilting and sewing decoration, and when I remember about this block.....ideas flew to mind.

These gift ideas are great! But gifting and receiving gifts is not what Christmas and the holidays are about. This special time of the year is about caring and spending it with our loved ones. It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Hello everyone! 

And the countdown for Christmas has started! Aren't you all excited? I know I am. This is the most wonderful time of the year indeed. I want to share with you all some tips to execute a flawless Christmas.  From recipes, DYI projects, tutorials to gift ideas, the tips I will share are countless and perfect for the holidays. Today I will start with the a couple of recipes for the Christmas dinner. 

When cooking is concern, my to-go site is Martha Stewart...always. She has endless cooking and baking recipes for you to choose from. This time around I decided for the Balsamic Steak with Garlic Zucchini which will guarantee to make a spotlight on the dinner table.

If desire, you can accompany your main dish with Honey-Sage Biscuits, a recipe that I found at the Anthropology website! The mix of flavors are a certified winner.

Deserts are always the main importance at any cooking event, but I wanted to change it up a bit. I decided for the Outrageous Chocolate Cookies as my main desert, a bit odd for a Christmas dinner but chocolate is chocolate ☺

Hello lovelies! The day is finally here! May this day be filled with happiness and love, surrounded by your loved ones. Enjoy a cup of hot coco by the fire-place (In my case, a fire-place will be a bit overwhelming, South Florida weather☺) while the kids are opening gifts, witnessing that surprise expression on their faces is priceless. They are the reason we wrestle at Toys r Us for that perfect gift! But Christmas is not all about gifts, food, or snow fights, it is about love, family time, and compassion. Caring for one an other is proactive, not only for the holidays but always☺Enjoy a wonderful day with your family and love one and other!

Christmas Menu

Hello lovelies!

How are your holidays preparation coming along? I had been decorating a bit more and preparing a Christmas Menu. As all of you may know, I adore cooking that is why I want to share with you some of my favorite Christmas recipes! I love to cook but sometimes I don't have the time to visit my kitchen and make a succulent dinner, that is why I can't wait for Christmas! It gives me an opportunity to search for a good recipe and make it for my family. Before the big dinner, I like to offer soft drinks and h'orderves accompany by an interesting and fun conversation.
My favorite drink for the holidays is eggnog...of course. This Eggnog-Lime Lassi recipe is one of my favorites, it takes only 5 minutes to make, you can find the full recipe here.

Look no further than Martha Stewart for incredible recipes! She is my to-go-person in every holiday; she will provide you with easy to make recipes like this Baked Camembert with Bacon, Rosemary and Pine Nuts. This will be perfect as an appetizer accompany by a cup eggnog or white wine.  

For Christmas, I always prepare a roast turkey with gravy, mash potatoes and greens, but this year I want to make a different dinner. I am changing my traditional Christmas turkey for a Roast Pork with Fennel, Chiles and Olives.  Prepare accordingly, this recipes will take you an hour to make, but it is worth it! How about serving this Roast Pork with red whine? I'm in! 

What about desert? A dinner is not complete without desert! Specially a Christmas dinner. Sometimes it is very hard to please everyone in their desert "needs", so I decided to choose a bit of everything with this Basic Bark. 

I am strongly thinking about creating this menu for Christmas dinner, it is not hard to make and it will not take to long (and my family will be delighted!) What are you all planing for Christmas dinner? Any tips for me?

DIY Holiday Decorations...

Hello lovelies:

What a week I had, filled with projects, work and more work! But I love it, the idea of creating new things and share it with all of you it's what keeps me going. I was organizing all my online reading, BOY! I had a mess on my Feedly account, but I organized it all and its perfect. Way easier for me, now I go online and all my favorite blogs, magazines and websites are organized and just a click away. Well...it is time for some DIY decoration ideas! Aren't these brilliant?! I choose decorations that will adorned your house inside and out. Hide those stocking stuffers with this wool Woodland Stockings, cute right?  To make it even cuter, you can add little bears or deers. Continuing with texture adornments, how about adorning your three with needle-felted woodland ornaments! I am just in-love with the woodland idea for this holiday ☺ Also, make you your front door scream holidays with an outdoor lighting perfectly decorated with holiday spirit. Like I said! I love the idea of a woodland holiday, what about Woodland candle-holders?  Love it! But don't forget about you dinner table, decorate it with crocheted snowflake napkins! Don't you want to create all of them?! I know I do☺

It's the most wonderful time...

Hello lovelies,

How are you all? Are you getting ready for Christmas? I am so into the Christmas spirit this year! Even though I was a bit busy with new projects for Etno, those Flying geese are coming up beautiful by the way I can't wait to show you the final result. I spent this weekend organizing and decorating for the holidays, enjoying Miami's cool weekend weather, perfect for a cup of hot coco. I had been sharing some amazing DIY gift ideas with you all that I really hope will help you this Christmas.
There are more things to come that I will be sharing this month, like recipes from my favorite chefs, hence the eggnog image....recipe very soon ☺

I wish there could be more hours in the day so I can complete some of the incredible projects that I had been seeing online! These last couple of days, I had been browsing the internet for Christmas ideas, and you will not believe the unique DIY decorations that I encountered!! They are just lovely, like this brilliant and easy to make Christmas Cookie-Cutter Ornaments by wonderful Martha Stewart.

Christmas Gift Ideas Part I

Hey there lovelies!

Christmas is just around the corner! Can you believe it? I am super excited! I had been gathering ideas for presents because, you know, having the perfect gift for that special someone is really important. Therefore.....drum roll.....I gathered my first 6 Christmas gift ideas! Each week, I will be sharing 6 ideas giving you all a total of 12! The majority being DIY projects. I always find it very important and meaningful to create something lovely for someone that we care about, so gift a pampering kind-of-present with a Coconut-Lime and Sugar scrub, snuggle up with stunning sweater pillows and make that jet-setter happy with a roll-up traveling jewelry case, or cute laundry bags. All of these ideas are easy to make DIY projects, however.... Merchant & Mill's wonderful collection of goodies is something to look at! It's a quilters and sewers dream! And what about your quilter friend? They will be super happy with a yard of Festival Sparkle fabric, they will just love it!
